After he completed his university degree in fashion design in Hamburg, Volker Lang and some friends and business partners founded KAUFRAUSCH, a small and unique store for fashion and design. There, he designed and sewed his first leather bag - the beginning of a great passion.
Ever since, this design house has launched new collections season by season. Clear shapes meet a functional look, puristic design and playful details - following Volker Lang's personal motto: "I want my accessories to speak for themselves and to enhance the beauty of the people who wear them."
The company relies on carefully selected, high-quality materials that convert VOLKER LANG bags and accessories into long-loving companions. Robust cowhide leather, shiny aniline leather, soft suede and calf leather with different embossings belong to this range of materials. Another central element is waxed and hand-tumbled saddle leather that is puerely vegetable tanned. For lining leather they use goatskin and nappa lambskin. The leather comes from traditional tanneries in Italy and Austria.
But the brand philosophy encompasses more than carefully selected materials: Social as well as environmental considerations are equally essential parts of it. VOLKER LANG's production is undertaken by medium-sized fine bag-makers in the Czech Republic and Tunisia, that pay fair wages and deliver consistent quality.
Today, VOLKER LANG is popular beyond the borders of Germany, with increasing numbers of customers in fashion capitals like New York, London or Paris. The beautiful parent company in Hamburg still sells bags, and so does the shop in the Mulackstraße in Berlin. Since the mid 90s, the head office is located in Aachen.
